OpenAI has announced major updates to Codex, its platform for AI-assisted coding, starting with the integration of full Codex functionality directly into the main ChatGPT app, removing the need for a separate Codex platform, while expanding Codex beyond developers into enterprise workflows such as research, document creation, dashboards, prototypes, and internal tools. OpenAI says knowledge workers now represent about 20% of Codex users, with adoption growing three times faster than among developers. The company also introduced Agent Plugins, which connect Codex with role-specific apps, context, instructions, and workflows. Six plugins are launching first, covering data analytics, creative production, sales, product design, public equity investing, and investment banking.
