Plex introduces social lists, community forums, and personalized discovery features

Just a couple of weeks after Plex sparked controversy by announcing that its Lifetime Plex Pass subscription will triple in price to $750 starting July 1, the media server and streaming platform is now introducing a new set of social features, possibly as an attempt to soften the impact of the recent backlash. The update starts with Lists, now available for all users, allowing them to create, manage, and share collections of movies, TV shows, or individual episodes. Later this year, Plex plans to add list imports from other platforms, along with comments and reactions on friends’ lists. Discussions will arrive this month, adding community forums directly tied to specific movies, shows, seasons, and episodes. The company is also adding image comments for reviews and discussions, giving users more ways to respond beyond text.
