Un'innovazione tecnologica risulta integrata nel suo tempo se socialmente accettata. É necessario un equilibrio tra accesso e consumo delle risorse, partecipazione, e uso. L'AI non ha questi requisiti al momento. Sul piano socio-ambientale potremmo definirla tecnologia d'elite, di cui risulta accessibile una versione sbiadita ai molti ma destinata presto ad esaurirsi.
