The impact of AI on our power consumption and therefore on our environment.Below I linked a post by @ketanjoshi85 that details how AI has led to a massive increase in power consumption by big tech.What stands out most is how easily absolute impact gets buried behind per-query efficiency claims and “avoided emissions” accounting. Lower energy per prompt can still coexist with a massive rise in total energy demand and emissions.
