My latest signal on how the anti-AI situation is going (and this isn’t about BlueSky) …There’s talk over there now about how people are drifting to X/Twitter because BlueSky is too #antiAI and all the “useful”/“interesting” #AI talk and engagement is over on X/twitter.There are probably a few feelings to be had about this.It’s useful I think to highlight I’ve seen the same here. It’s also useful to highlight what I think people aren’t recognising enough … that this AI thing may well be a significant fracturing of society. Its very nature is to affect and be involved in many/most/all aspects of society, and yet there are strong feelings about it because of its deep implications. A society that differs so strongly on something like that is a fractured one. More fractured, I suspect, than people recognise.If the groups were large enough and their commitments strong enough, we’d get religious schism style animosity.
