OpenAI axing Sora was a sensible decision so no one has really questioned it - they were spending $5 billion+ annually to run it and pulling in less than a fifth of that even with the Disney deal. Sensible to call time on a project like that. But like, ALL of the AI expenditure thus far by all of the businesses in the race has been as batshit crazy as the Sora stuff. None of the numbers have ever made sense. So was Sora the canary in the coal mine? Is the #AI money no longer limitless?
