OpenProject 17.4 has been released, bringing key updates for project management teams using this open source software. The Jira Migrator is now available by default, removing its feature flag but remaining in beta. This feature lets teams transfer data directly from Jira to OpenProject using a guided dialog. Supported Jira custom fields, including text, numbers, dates, and select lists, can now be migrated if a corresponding field type exists in OpenProject. Alongside this, agile teams benefit from improved backlog organization. Backlog buckets allow work packages to be grouped into distinct lists, making it easier to prioritize and manage tasks. Work packages are fully draggable to speed up backlog refinement and sprint planning. Building on these workflow enhancements, users can open work packages in a side panel with one click and start or complete sprints directly from the sprint header using new action buttons.
