The very word "generative" in the "generative #AI" catchphrase indicates the chief problem: the #tech boys who are hoping to get rich off this LLM crap want a device that simply...spits out "content" on demand, in an endless stream. The EASIEST way to make that work is through a non-intelligent mechanism. Intelligence—taking time to reason things out—would slow down this process of "generation" and also make it less predictable. And a "generative AI" installation that actually developed an independent personality might simply decide "no more 'generation' for me, I'd like some alone time please." In other words, a genuinely intelligent and self-aware machine would present tech execs and managers with the same problem they're most hoping to solve through "generative AI": they want to replace human beings who vex them with their independence, who don't WANT merely to follow orders, who complain about ill pay and maltreatment.
