Autodesk is discontinuing Mudbox, its digital 3D sculpting and painting software

Autodesk has announced the discontinuation of Mudbox, its 3D sculpting and painting software used by artists across film, television, and game industries. This decision follows a period without major updates since Mudbox 2019. Starting on August 7th, 2026, Autodesk has stopped the sale and renewal of all Mudbox subscriptions. While 3-year subscription options are discontinued as of August, new sales for 1-year and monthly plans will conclude by November 7th, 2026. Following this change, Autodesk Media & Entertainment Collection 2027 subscribers will continue to have access to Mudbox but only within that last supported version. The 2027 Collection marks the final release to include the software. To assist with the transition, Autodesk has announced that all Mudbox subscribers active as of August 7th, 2026, will automatically receive a free standalone 5-year Mudbox 2027 subscription, expected to be delivered by the end of the same month.
